The Kazakhstan Football Federation has taken an important step in developing the video assistance referee system by strengthening the refereeing and inspection department with an experienced international expert.

Leonid Kaloshin is an international expert with over 15 years of experience in the Russian Football Union (RFU), where he held various positions in the refereeing organization. Under his leadership, the VAR project was created in Russia and most of the current video referees were trained.

He is also a UEFA CORE coach and a member of the UEFA Referee Convention Committee.

Leonid Sergeyevich Kaloshin has extensive international experience, including working as a senior referee instructor at workshops for referees in the top divisions of Belarus and Lithuania, as well as as a video inspector in Belgium.

Together with Nuno Alexandre Parreira de Castro, who headed the KFF refereeing department, he will strengthen the work of the department.

His tasks include developing VAR in Kazakhstan, training video referees, as well as interacting with UEFA and FIFA in this area.

The appointment of Leonid Kaloshin confirms the KFF’s commitment to implementing advanced methods and high standards of refereeing, as well as strengthens Kazakhstan’s position in the field of football refereeing.
